Literary translation: awards and hopes
The year is still young, and already, I’ve been lucky twice!
I published a literary translation into Russian for the first time (I
translate more into English and German), and it was shortlisted for a
translation award named after one of the best translators from the English:
Nora Gal. The text is a children’s book by Neil Gaiman. In the meantime, I
followed up with a poetry translation of a book by the same author: I
translated Neil Gaiman’s “The Dangerous Alphabet”, a book-length poem for
intrepid children.
In other news: the German Translators’ Fund supports my project to translate short stories, essays and feuilletons by Teffi into German. Two test translations – a humorous story and a tragic one – are already finished. All I have to do now is find a publisher.
