Summer is often a quiet time for translators and interpreters, but this one brings exciting assignments and requests: for Pavel – translations from his field (technical, law, start-ups), for me – translations that fit my specialization (academic, mainly Jewish studies and sociology). This time, I was commissioned to translate an academic book into English through a translation agency – which hardly ever happens, as scholarly and scientific translations are usually ordered by the publisher. But this time the translation company was asked to look for an academic translator and had found me:) And then, there are requests for interpreting in Nuremberg, and simultaneous interpreting in Berlin, and above all there is a literary translation into German, on which I am working with dedication and pleasure. I won’t reveal the title yet. Let me just say: I get a chance to translate a book that I love into German!
