Interpreting in Munich and Hanover

A good interpreter must also be honest. The same applies to translators. Say I get the assignment to translate an article from German and find that a finished translation is already available online – I’d always inform the client. Thus, I should also be honest about the function of this translator blog: it is mainly there to find interesting work in the domains of translation and interpreting for us. For me, it is mainly literary translations, poetry, songs, articles in the social sciences and humanities (Russian, English, German). For Pavel, it’s technical and legal translations, mostly into German and English. And for both of us it is simultaneous interpreting / conference interpreting (some people say “simultaneous translation”; with headphones, usually in a booth). This week, for example, we are interpreting simultaneously about psychiatry in Düsseldorf (German-English) and about catering in Cologne (Russian-English).

In the spirit of sincerity, here is why I mention certain cities: when I write that we offer conference interpreting in Hanover or interpreting in Munich, it is also because Hanover and Munich are among our favourite places to work. Firstly, interesting events are held at the Munich and Hanover trade fairs (including bauma, CeBIT, Messe Hannover, Interschutz); plus, Munich and Hanover are home to the headquarters of leading companies, especially in the automotive sector (from BMW to Volkswagen). And secondly, our friends live in Munich and Hannover :)
