conference interpreting as a way to visit friends

It has been a great year for literary translation so far, but I miss a bit of interpreting – especially simultaneous interpreting. To be honest, partly because my husband and I like to use assignments as interpreters at international trade fairs and other events to visit friends (which also saves the client hotel costs). In Munich, for example: English, German and Russian are used at the “Expo Real”, “Munich Marathon”, “Fonds Messe”, “Forum Vini”, “InPrint”, “Productronica” and “eMove 360”. Or at the “IAA Passenger Cars” in Frankfurt. Or in Hanover: we never miss the CeBit and the Hanover Fair as interpreters anyway, but the IdeenExpo or IAA Commercial Vehicles might be fun, too. The gamescom in Cologne is around the corner, and the Drupa (printing and design) is in Düsseldorf. And books are my cup of tea anyway, whether at the bookfair in Frankfurt or in Leipzig. In this sense: 2019 and 2020, where will we interpret?
