We have something to celebrate! Namely exactly 100 google ratings for our work (translating and interpreting), all oft hem five stars. This makes us two of the best-rated translators and interpreters in Düsseldorf! The hundredth rating was for an academic translation with elements of poetry translation, an exciting combination. ” Alexandra Berlina is the best translator I’ve ever worked with. She is thorough, inventive, widely erudite. Working with her is like working with the translator and editor simultaneously. I highly recommend her for texts in humanities, scholarly or artistic“, the client wrote. Thank you! Apparently, good customer feedback does indeed attract new enquiries: I have just been commissioned for a poetry translation (German – English) and a book-length social science translation, each after a test translation: both times not through recommendations (as is often the case), but simply because someone had googled “academic translation” and “translate a poem” respectively.
Pavel, who is primarily an interpreter, has a more difficult time. Anyone looking for an interpreter in Düsseldorf (whether for a simultaneous interpreter / conference interpreter or a liaison interpreter, whether for English or Russian) doesn’t find him so easily: since interpreting jobs usually come via a translation agency, you get Google reviews much less often as an interpreter — even if the oral feedback is very positive. Either that, or the search terms are unexpected (do lay people tend to speak of an “oral translator” rather than an interpreter?), or hardly anyone needs interpreters in Düsseldorf — not even for the wine fair! And that can’t be so, can it?:)
