Born in Moscow in 1984, Alexandra Berlina moved to Germany in 1997 and graduated with distinction from UCL (London) with a master’s degree in Comparative Literature and Translation Studies. She went on to study English, American and German language, literature and culture in Düsseldorf, and passed the final “Magister” examinations with an average grade of 1.075 (1.0 being the best possible result). Her working languages are Russian, German and English.
Alexandra has worked as a translator and interpreter for publishing houses and at business fairs since 2001. In August 2008, her Russian textbook was published by Klett/PONS. She has worked for various media, and interpreted interviews and discussions featuring Russian celebrities like TV host Leonid Parfyonov, writer Dina Rubina and clown Oleg Popov. She is also experienced in video and film translation. Alexandra is happy to interpret in Germany, the UK, Russia or anywhere else in Europe.
Alexandra is writing a doctoral thesis on poetry translation; she has almost ten years of experience in translating poetry, re-creating the emotional impact and the formal features of verse.
Rates for translation vary according to the topic, difficulty and length. Please email Alexandra the source text to receive a quote. Discounts are possible for charitable or non-profit organizations. VAT does not apply, which saves the client 19% in comparison to the fees of larger translation agencies.
